Professional Experience:
Monica's television career began in 1984 in Orlando, Fla, where she started as a production assistant at WCPX-TV (now WKMG). Over the next four years there, she was promoted to writer, assignment editor and producer. In 1988, she headed to Ft. Myers, Fla, to report and anchor the news at WEVU-TV before moving across town to become noon anchor and consumer reporter for WINK-TV. In 1991, she returned to WCPX-TV as a reporter and fill-in anchor. Monica joined WRAL as a consumer reporter in 1994, was promoted to weekend morning anchor in 1995. She was later promoted to anchor the weekend evenings and then executive producer.
Awards & Recognition:
Monica has won four Emmys and has been nominated for several more. She also won a regional Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association for her work on a series of investigative segments exposing what happened to vehicles flooded during Hurricane Floyd.

Hobbies, Interests & Community Involvement:
Gardening, home projects, cooking, baking, spending time with family and training assistance dogs for Canine Companions for Independence

Covering Pope John Paul II's trip to Miami, Hurricane Andrew and going to the Bahamas to expose a vacation/travel scheme
