Winston-Salem, N.C. — Police have arrested four suspects in connection with a double shooting in Winston-Salem.
Officers responded at about 9 p.m. Friday to a report of a shooting in the 3700 block of Prospect Drive. They found Reginald Juan Jackson, 17, of 3707 Prospect Drive, and Jamaz Vincent Williams, 15, of 3602 Bates Drive, who had both sustained gunshot wounds, a police report stated.
Jackson had been shot in the neck and Williams had a gunshot wound to his lower back. Both injuries were considered to be life-threatening. The victims were transported to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. No updates on their conditions were immediately available.
Officers stopped a Ford Explorer that was believed to be involved in the shooting at Page Street and Carver School Road. As a result of the vehicle stop, police arrested Matthew James Quentin Wharton,19 , 7030 Maple Park Lane in Charlotte; Matthew Raymond Mitchell, 19, 5132 Elizabeth Road in Charlotte; Reginald Lamont Funderburk, 21, 3237 Yanceyville Road in Greensboro; and Kourtney Donnell Crews, 20, 1401 Cunningham Road in Greensboro.
Each was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. The suspects are being held under a $500,000 bond at the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center.
Officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department have also recovered handguns that appear to be related to the arrestees in this incident in the yards of residences in the 4000 block of Carver School Road.
