Carrboro, N.C. — Firefighters confirmed Sunday that lightning was to blame for a house fire that did an estimated $200,000 in damage to a single-family home on Pathway Drive as a line of storms moved through just after midnight Friday.
The fire at 1604 Pathway Drive was confined to the upper portions of the house, but smoke and water damage were more extensive, officials said.
Firefighters from Carrboro, Chapel Hill and New Hope fought the blaze.
No one was injured.
The blaze started shortly after a thunderstorm pounded the area with hail and lightning.
