Trial begins in Fayetteville double homicide

James Stitt

A New York man went on trial Monday for the 2005 slayings of a Fort Bragg soldier and a teenage girl in a Cumberland County home.

James Stitt, 22, is charged with fatally shooting George Katsigiannis, 21, a member of the Army's 3rd Special Forces Group stationed at Fort Bragg, and Jenna Bologna, 16, of West Palm Beach, Fla., in February 2005.

Stitt, who had shared the home with Katsigiannis and Bologna, was arrested a few days later in Brooklyn, N.Y. Authorities said he had taken Katsigiannis' car.
