A real-iife horror movie

The family of Nneka Wilson described the trial of Jakiem Wilson in terms that normally would sound over-the-top. 

They called the defendant a "monster;" her death a "slaughter;" and the details of the case something straight out of a "horror movie."  Unfortunately, in this case, all of these descriptions apply.

Today, Jakiem Wilson was convicted of first-degree murder for killing his wife in their home while their two young children slept in February 2007. 

At trial, witnesses testified that after cutting his wife's throat, Wilson called his buddy and held the phone up to his dying wife's mouth.  The buddy heard only gurgling before he had to turn away from the gruesome sound. 

The same witnesses described Wilson's re-telling of the murder – he sat and waited with the knife behind his back as she showered.

When the first knife broke, he dragged her, wounded, to the kitchen to get another one.  They told the court that he used her hairbrush to clean up some of the blood and cracked jokes as he did it. 

And the ultimate horror movie element – Wilson and his accomplices wrote threats in Nneka's blood on the kitchen floor to make it look like a gang killing.

I don't even think the most twisted minds in Hollywood could come up with such a script. The big question is: How will it end? 

A jury now has to decide whether Wilson will spend his life in prison or be put to death. 

Nneka's family, which has endured something no family should ever have to experience, declines to say what they would like to see happen, because this isn't Hollywood. This is a court of law.  Twelve men and women will write the ending.
