Got Any Good Summer Reads About Animals?

Dear Miss Fifi:

My mom and I are both big readers, and always have one book that we read together before bedtime. She likes to choose books with a "good message"—whatever that means. Anyway, a couple years ago we read The Tiger Rising by Kate DiCamillo and really enjoyed it. Do you have any suggestions for this summer?

- Peyton, 10 years old

Dear Peyton:

Miss Fifi loves a smart little reader ... particularly one who loves books about animals. And you should also know that at 10, you have a lifetime of "good messages" to get from your parents, so just take a deep breath and smile. Now, back to the question at hand. As you know, Miss Fifi is a world traveler and with so much time in the air and on the road, I like when my humans read aloud to me. Some of our favorites and some classics are listed below. Happy reading!

Ms. Fifi. I have an almost three-year-old and I can recite The Cat in the Hat without ever opening the book. I learned just yesterday, that she can as well. We've read it every night for about three months now. At your leisure, tell us more books for the preschool age group. Great list. -Angela
