Fifi Investigates | Dixie and Mr. Peabody

Aww ... would you look at this week's Pet Photo winners, Dixie and Mr. Peabody.

Five and a half year old Boxer, Dixie, and two month old Mr. Peabody, a fluffy Tabby, are pleasant reminders in this political season that we're all more alike if we'd stop barking and meowing long enough to listen to each other.

Miss Fifi enjoyed talking to Shayne and Tosha Aldridge, Dixie and Mr. Peabody's humans. "We got Dixie as a puppy," they said, smiling fondly. "She loves playing with our three girls, and she loves the water."

Mr. Peabody had a more dramatic entrance to the family's lives, as he was abandoned in a dumpster. "Our neighbor brought Mr. Peabody to us when he was about one and a half weeks old. He loves playing with Dixie, our other cat Midnight, and Elvis, our Bloodhound. He even runs from our two guinea pigs." That had us all laughing.

What a menagerie the Aldridge's have, both of the two legged and four legged variety. It's bound...

Do Squirrels Make Good Pets?

Dear Miss Fifi:

Do squirrels make good pets?

- Maggie

Dear Maggie:

Eww. Miss Fifi is not a big fan of the varmits, but my faithful feline assistant, Dilettante Dilly, said she'd be happy to have a squirrel for dinner—err, I meant to say she'd be happy to have a squirrel for a pet.

But this question piqued my interest, so I had ol' Dilly do a little research. Squirrels.org notes: "They make poor house pets since their sharp claws, and teeth can do a great deal of damage. They can even harm a human unintentionally ...  Most Cities, Counties and States have rules about keeping wild animals as pets. A permit is often required. It would be best to inquire before you try to adopt a disabled squirrel."

In A Fish Bowl

Dear Miss Fifi:

Do you think my goldfish is looking at me through the fishbowl when I'm looking at him?

- Nathan

Dear Nathan:

Yes. And you're probably REALLY magnified.

Spotty Carpet

Dear Miss Fifi:

My Mini Dashund is an 8 year old male who lives with another female dog and male cat. He goes to the bathroom every time I let him out. However, I am always finding pee spots on my carpets in my bedroom and in the living room. Mainly in the same spots. He hasn't been pooping as much but he is urinating all over my house. The whole house smells like pee. I can scrub and scrub and he'll still go to the same spots. My carpets are ruined. What can I do to stop him from peeing on my carpet?

- Kelly

Dear Kelly:

Well, Miss Fifi has never had any issues with incontinence (or spiteful urinating), but it sounds like something's going on with the power dynamic of your three companions—either that, or your Dashund may need to visit the vet. As far as finding the same spots, I have heard that pouring vinegar over the urination spots on the carpet can help drown out the smell. The downside may be that instead of the same spot...

Fifi Investigates | Tiger

Even Miss Fifi likes a cat with class and style. And last week's winner, Tiger, definitely qualifies.

Meet Tiger Lee, who is cared for by his 12 year old human Chris and his mom Kelly in Clayton NC. Kelly said, "We are so excited! Chris is Tiger's caregiver, along with Tiger's mom, brother and sister. Tiger is the most outgoing of the family, and without a doubt gets into the most trouble. He hides in our couch and jumps out when you walk by, attacks the dog and chases anything that will run. He'll talk to you when he wants something, and has brought a lot of joy to Chris."

And it's so obvious that the Lee's are conscientious, responsible, loving humans, because Kellly also noted that "Everyone is fixed now, so the family will not grow!"

Good for you Tiger, and good for you Chris and Kelly!

Woof!
