Regarding Sarah Palin's record of being a mavericky reformer of the Alaskan political scene:

Title of link to article on front page:

"Troopergate Report: Palin Did Not Break the Law"

Title once the article opens:

"Report stings Palin over Troopergate flap"

...and then to clarify:

"Stephen Branchflower, a retired prosecutor hired to conduct the investigation, said Monegan's firing was lawful. But the pressure Palin and her husband put on him, he said, was not."

I guess they're still holding out for readers who only do the "above the fold" thing.

Flashlight, I'll let you know if Obama gets off on conspiracy to commit voter fraud. Well, that's even if they even try to investigate it. Or, I'll let you know if Dodd or Frank get off on racketeering charges for taking bribes from Freddie and Fan nie . If they ever get investigated for it.

But, since Palin didn't do anything illegal and is only charged with "letting" her husband do something, it seems that the Democrats are trying to make a bigger mountain out of this tiny ant hill.

Well nevermind the whole laughable Townhall headlining thing....

If it were a Democrat, ya'll would be furious.

The political ramifications of this incident as they apply to the presidential race will be minimal. Those who are still supporting Palin will not be deterred by allegations of ethical misconduct. Monegan's firing was not illegal, but the use of official power and influence to effect the firing of a trooper is a breach of ethics (and the public trust) under Alaska law. I suspect she will receive a legislative censure; a hard slap on the wrist. I don't think the legislature will try to remove her as governor.

That said, she can plausibly deny any wrongdoing by parsing the issue and staying focused on her firing of Monegan, which was legal. The final consequences of the ethics violations will not be meted out until sometime after Palin returns to her routine as Alaska governor.

There has never been a state government where some of this doesn't go on!! Get real. All of us know that people get hired based on who you know, get fired because of who you know or don't know or make made etc.

In fact, I know many jobs just like that where it is not state government!!!

It's a fact of life, even though it should not be, and nothing about it is news to me. A waste of printed space to even report it.

Life really is not fair!!

LadyBlue, one thing we sure agree on...get the reporters out of Alaska. We have had MUCH TOO MUCH light shown on us and do not like it!! I was talking with a co-worker yesterday, and we both agreed that we just want to be left alone and let the rest of America forget we exist up here!!

*done, not dont..sry

Lady, sure its been dont countless times...doesnt make it right though.

That being said, imagine how angry you'd be if you heard reports of Mary Easley running around state offices pressuring people into firing people

Do you know for a fact that hasn't been done. I'll be t that has been done since George Washington..........

This particular blog post isn't so much about Palin, it's about the ridiculousness of Townhall.

That being said, imagine how angry you'd be if you heard reports of Mary Easley running around state offices pressuring people into firing people.

IMO she's done nothing that most people of power hasn't done. The trooper fired for the dog comes to mind. There is one thing you most innocently left off. She could fire that man for no reason at all if she wanted to. I suggest that CNN get those reporters out of AK and send them to where the voter fraud is gong on with ACORN. Or ask Obama why he planned with Ayers and went to the campaign dinner that Ayers had for the senator this year. I'd be asking Obama why he donated over 800 thousand to the organization that Ayers is heading up which is only a blanketed name directed for ACORN. If ever anyone is buying votes and selling his soul,it is this man. I'm more concerned about that.
