Hello Citizen Journalists:
I know this group has been sitting idle for a while and it's too long to get it up and running but I am ready to rock.
Are you?
The goal here is not to turn you into Tom Brokaw or Katie Couric, but simply to unleash the passion you already possess about news.
What is news? Anything that is important to you, your family, and your community. I want you to feel free to share it here. Write about something happening on your street. Take pictures at a local ball game or school play. If you come across something interesting on your way home, share it with your fellow citizen journalists.
Tell us about a street light that's been down for 4 months that no one has bothered to fix.
There are no limits. Let's just get started. I will ocassionally share interesting news about citizen journalism and what other communities are doing to facilitate the process.
I'd like to get to the point where we have lots of members and maybe we'll get enough news to start a new GOLO section, right? You never know. So start taking pictures and writing stories and sharing information.
It doesn't have to be long, it simply has to matter to someone.
Let's go! And be sure to tell anyone who you think would be interested.
