in tough economy, more turn to lottery
Published Sep. 17, 2008Is there anyone else out there, fellow GOLOers who is tired of struggling? I can see why people are turning to the lottery for a possible solution to their financial problems. Granted, it is not a wise or even feasible solution to their financial problems, but people are desperate. I have seen ALL types of people buy lottery tickets, not just the downtrodden. Folks are looking for some slight glimmer of hope to help them out of their present situation. I have a friend who is thinking about filing for bankruptcy. I don't know that much about it, but the general consensus is that bankruptcy has a negative stigma attached to it. She believes bankruptcy will be the solution to her problems. I don't know what to tell her. I am trying to find a solution myself. Maybe I need to go to the nearby convenience store and buy a scratch off or something. A 1 in 150 million chance of winning is better than no chance at all!! Take Care, fellow GOLOers and love, peace and blessings to all!!

We have already done your list and more. We are getting ready to start raising our own chickens which will provide us with meat & eggs. I would love to raise a cow & few pigs, but I have to get that past the wife first, she thinks their to cute.
We have a big garden that we will have full of fresh fruits and veggys come spring. We have a pond that is now stocked and that should provide our fish next year. We are heating with wood from our land this year to cut down on the utility bill.
I am trying to get to the point that everything I need, I can provide and then the wifes paycheck will just go to the mason jars in the backyard for now. To bad it's illegal to have a still for shine, otherwise I would try that too.
We don't have the McMansion, but, we were able to get a very nice small home in the country on 12 acres and our payment is about $600 per month.
You just have to make the decision that your not going to allow everyone to control your life.

I figure my chances would be better sowing it as seed faith money to ORU.
Really.

If someone is having trouble paying their bills:
their $100 plus cable;
their $100+ for cell phones;
their $100+ for eating out monthly;
their $100+ for entertainment outside the house;
(that's $400 a month they could cut out instantly)
Sell the cars that have payments and get ones like they had when they first married, save another $400 a month. That's $800 a month!
Save more by stopping:
movie rentals or pay for views;
Dropping club memberships;
their jet ski, boat payment, camper & upkeep.
You can even so something about your house payment.
Simplify you life, if you can. You'll be happier.
If you have cut all the fat from your budget, and still can't make ends meet, but have a job, you have hope.
If you have no job, only bills, then you are a sinking ship with no cargo to throw over, but you can still start over.
