Have you ever been to an air show? Over the summer, I attended a Blue Angels practice session one morning in Pensacola, Florida. At the end of the practice, all of the kids were invited onto the runway to wave flags for the pilots.

Do you have any air show stories to share? Have you ever seen the Blue Angels, or any other famous air-show teams? Share your comments with GoLo.

Great story, usharrisons! There were tons of people there for that practice session, and everything was so up-close and personal. The people were nice, everything was explained well during the practice, and the museum was top-notch. It was a great experience, especially since we had never seen the Blue Angels before.

If you go to the Blue Angels website, you can download some excellent photos. Many are taken from the cockpit of Blue Angel #4 and show the cockpit view in the Diamond.

Love the pic, JJ!

I spent my summers as a kid down in Pensacola. My Grandparents lived on S. Baublits Drive in Navy Point. Their house was across the street from Bayou Grande. Across the bayou was NAS Pensacola and Sherman Field. I would get up every morning during the week and watch Navy aircraft fly. On Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, the Blues would take off in Diamond formation at 8 am sharp. Then the solos would follow. I would sit on the dock and watch them pracice their set-ups and show in and out of Sherman Field.

My Uncle Randy was a big-wig at NARF. Every Wednesday afternoon and all day Thursday, they would re-build the Blues' aircraft and repaint them. He once told me that two shows plus practice was equal to the same air-frame stress as 168 combat missions. I got the opportunity to meet many of them over that time.

The Blue Angels are by far the best at what they do. Just look at pictures from the Diamond and see how tight they are; 3 feet wing-tip to canopy.

Thanks for sharing, everybody! Since my new schedule started, I may not respond to everybody individually like I usually do, but just know that I do read every comment and I enjoy hearing everybody's stories. Thanks again! - javajoe

I've really enjoyed your pictures of the day, Joe. Thanks for sharing them with us.

I've been to many air shows. I grew up in an Airforce neighborhood (my dad was Navy but we lived near McCoy Airforce Base in Orlando). Love them.

When my son finished training for rescue swimmer at Pensacola, we went down for the ceremony. As we were leaving, the Blue Angles were practicing overhead. It was a shock at first, as they seemed to come out of nowhere and we weren't expecting it; but we were able to enjoy it for 15-20 minutes...

I got to see the Blue Angels at the LA County Fair when I lived in CA

Nice picture, javajoe! I have seen the blue angels many times at Cherry Point.

I went to an airshow at RDU several years ago, didnt get to see the Blue Angels but saw a really cool demo by a cobra helicopter, a blackhawk, there was a flyby by a B1 bomber, and got to tour inside a C5 cargo plane. I bought a really cool painting of an F4U Corsair - a gull winged Navy/Marine fighter plane from WWII. It was a great time!
