the condemned
Published Apr. 21, 2008I watched this movie this weekend, and to be quite honest did not expect to watch a action movie that would actually have me questioning my morals and beliefs. Well, as you can tell I really liked the film. Any film that can get you to question your set feelings and your position on a subject and maybe come to a different opinion is a movie worth watching.
http://www.aajkatv.com/pplayer.php?id=869 clip of the movie.
This movie, without giving away the good stuff, is about a millionaire who decides to buy 10 death row inmates. These criminals are already set to die, so where is the harm in making a profit off of their death. Because of regulations it cannot be broadcast on cable or regular tv, so it is aired online. You enter your credit card number and get to watch human beings torture and kill other human beings. The last one standing wins, and gets set free, back to us in society.
Questions I asked myself, while watching this movie.
1. Now if the last one standing is the one who killed everyone else, do I really want him walking around as a free person.
2. Would I pay to watch something like this on the internet?
3. What type of person would I be if I enjoyed watching killers, killing other killers.
4. How do I feel about the death penalty?
5. Am I sadistic, if I enjoyed watching these slimballs kill each other.
Those are just some of the questions I asked my husband and myself this weekend. I also got to thinking about the things we post on this website about what we would like to see done to alot of criminals who have been accused of doing killing others or hurting others or even killing or maiming a animal. We are all passionate in what we feel should be done to this individual that has committed these offenses.
I find myself having more questions than answers on this one. I did come away from the movie wondering how animalistic we have become as a society. Myself included. I have wished the most horrific thoughts about how I felt a criminal should be handled. I have wished they were tortured in jail. I have wished they suffer the same act in which they committed on another. I have found that I am a undercover hypocrite. I don't think I would care so much about terrible things happening to these people, as long as I didn't have to know about it or watch it. I found that I was enjoying the movie, and wondered if it was real would I be one of the people going online to watch this type of show. Thank God, I came to the conclusion that I would not support any media remotely close to doing a reality show like this. I felt that if I was to partake in watching the reality show, I would be just as sadistic as those condemned and those producing the show.
So my question to all of you in GOLO Land, would you enjoy watching a reality show that showed murders killing, raping, torturing others like themselves. Or do we just say and wish these things would happen in our justified anger over the crime committed.
I did come to the conclusion that I still support the death penalty. Although, I would grieve the reason the person had to be put to death. I would continue to pray for their salvation and pray that God could somehow even in the end, find something to redeem them for.

I think I feel the same way. Out of sight, out of mind.
