movie review: nancy drew
Published Mar. 17, 2008If you read the Nancy Drew books as a child you will enjoy this movie. How nice it was to remember believing that I could be a super-sleuth like Nancy, while watching my daughters discover her for the first time.
In the movie, Nancy moves away from her small home town of River Heights, to California with her dad where she continues to "sleuth" despite telling her dad that she would give it up.
Nancy finds herself in some really dangerous situations as she tries to solve the mystery behind the death of a movie star while living in the woman's home, which is filled with trap doors, secrets, and most importantly--clues.
Young actress Emma Roberts was refreshing to watch and I thought she was adorable and completly convincing as a super-smart, super-sleuth.
The adult humor (including a Bruce Willis cameo) sprinkled throughout seemed to be a treat for adults. So if you have children or simply want to remember Nancy, give it a try. We ordered it on Demand and it was definitely worth the $3.99.
