film ~ mi3
Published Dec. 10, 2007Most of you know I'm not on the Tom Cruise fan boat. He's done a couple of great films, but beyond that, to me he's a one-trick pony. In that light and the general formula this series has delivered, my expectations were not superseded. While this installment of the series was meant to be more emotional and make us care about Ethan Hunt, it was for the most part just more of the same. One can only see so much synthetic face-ripping, canal chase scenes, 3G drops to 6 inches above the ground before we start to demand new hooks. The gimmicks of the first film were the same ones in the second, and... they're the same ones in the third. This series of films was hailed as being the new cutting edge generation of the action genre, but they at best are recycled versions of themselves. If you enjoy the thrill of action and don't care that they are the same stunts you've seen 40 times, or if you don't care about plot, itself, this movie rocks.
