Icarus Studios Picks IBM’s IDS Servers for 3D Offerings

Raleigh, N.C. — Icarus Studios, a video game and 3D training tools, will use Informix Dynamic Server (IDS) 11 models from IBM (NYSE: IBM) for storage of its virtual world data and retrieval.

The Raleigh-based company chose to upgrade to the IBM servers from IBM BladeCenter, IBM Systerm x and IBM System Storage in part to support development of massively multiplayer online games (MMOGs).

Icarus, which employs 65 people, is one of the high-profile companies that make up the Research Triangle area’s rapidly growing video game and interactive training sector.
