Research Triangle Park, N.C. — Rick Weddle, president and chief executive officer of the Research Triangle Park Foundation, is the new president of the North American Division of the International Association of Science Parks.
Weddle will serve a two-year term. He also was named to the parent organization’s board of directors.
The group includes science parks such as RTP from around the world. It has more than 300 members based in more than 60 countries.
The IASP will host its annual conference in the Triangle in 2009, the RTP's 50th anniversary.
“It is an honor to serve on this prestigious international board and to collaborate with IASP and global science park leaders,” Weddle said. “IASP underscores the importance of research, science and technology parks as successful tools for regional economic transformation.”
