Morrisville, N.C. — SunTech Medical, a developer of blood-pressure-device technology, has opened a manufacturing facility in Shenzhen, China.
Some 25 people work at the 18,000-square-foot facility.
SunTech, which began selling a new device in the U.S. last fall, also operates facilities in the Triangle, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong. The new China facility “fits well with our goal of having a global presence in the medical device industry,” said SunTech Chief Executive officer Dayn McBee.
Last fall, SunTech began offering clinicians an automated monitor with the option of a manual mode for measuring blood pressure.
The “SunTech 247 Diagnostic Station” is also a modular device designed to support additional diagnostic modules. It is positioned as a product priced between manual blood pressure gauges and vital-signs monitors.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the device in June 2007.
Additional modules include temperature and blood-oxygen saturation.
