KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Billionaire David Murdock is set to announce the addition of another tenant for the North Carolina Research Campus he is building in Kannapolis.
Murdock is scheduled to disclose the identity of what’s being called a “global leader in the biotech/pharma sector” on Wednesday morning.
“The news will mark significant progress in the campus' journey from ambitious vision to reality,” the NCRC said in a statement issued Monday. Further details were not disclosed.
Murdock is pouring more than $1 billion into the campus, which is being built on the grounds of a former textile mill that he once owned in Kannapolis. Partners in the effort include Duke University, the University of North Carolina system and the N.C. Community College System.
The main building and other facilities will open later this spring.
