The Anthropology Museum at Wake Forest University now has an new online database that catalogs its entire collection -- that's more than 26,000 artifacts! You can access it at http://cairo.deacnet.wfu.edu/ .
Each entry in the database includes a description and creation and cultural, including notes about where it was collected. Most of the database entries I looked at had photographs as well. You can browse the collection by culture, item title, materials, country, etc. or you can search. I did a search for Cherokee and got over 4300 results, including pipe bowls, baskets, and gaming stones.
There are a lot of North Carolina items here, as you might expect. If you want to include them in your classroom, you can get lesson plans here. And of course, you can also visit the Museum itself! Get more information, including visiting hours, at http://www.wfu.edu/moa/index.html.
